THE CHILDREN OF ABAKUÁ

Food of War hosted a workshop for the children residing at the Abakuá fraternity. The session delved into the history of oranges in Cuba, tracing their journey from the lush groves of yesteryears to their current endangered status. They also learned about the alarming decline in orange production due to various environmental and economic challenges.

Through interactive activities - such as preparing and planting orange trees - and storytelling, the workshop not only educated about the cultural significance of oranges but also instilled a sense of responsibility towards preserving this cherished part of their heritage.
