Üitmelken: Harvesting Money, the group exhibition presented by Food of War at PuntWG was the conclusion of a three-month residency at AirWG Amsterdam. It reminisced on the Dutch vanitas, yet a deconstructed version. It brought a new rhythm to the exhibition space with expositional work, multiplying and rearranging throughout the show – the subtle resemblance to the art accumulation of the past. The group exhibition becomes a joint statement, a form of group artwork, a storytelling experience.
The title of “Üitmelken”, meaning “milking it out” represents a lesser-known Dutch mentality, not as famous as tolerance and straightforwardness. It becomes the framework to explore themes of overproduction, human ecology, and political and economic implications in sustainability.
